2010 Château Fargueirol 88/100:
Moving to the reds and a late-release bottling, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape is a traditional effort with loads of spice, saddle leather, cedar and darker berry fruit.
Medium to full-bodied and well made, with quality mid-palate depth and good tannin, it’s a workhorse style effort that will drink nicely for over a decade.
2010 Château Fargueirol Cuvée Antonin 90/100:
A step up, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape cuvee Antonin is a big, rich effort that has a fantastic blackberry, licorice, leather and fruit-cake-like aromas and flavors to go with medium to full bodied richness and depth. One solid bottle of wine that’s beautifully balanced, concentrated and lengthy, it will benefit from a handful of years in the cellar and evolve gracefully through 2025.
2012 Château Fargueirol 86-88/100:
Looking at the 2012’s, which were all tasted out of barrel, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape should be a good to very good effort. Medium-bodied, supple and nicely textured, with decent concentration and plenty of berry fruit and dried floral aromas and flavors, it will be reasonably approachable on release and drink nicely for 7-8 years after the vintage.
2012 Château Fargueirol cuvee “cent ans d’histoire” 90-93/100:
The most impressive of the lineup, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape “cent ans d’histoire” has gorgeous aromatics (black raspberry, spice-box, toast, cedar and licorice), medium to full body and a lively, concentrated profile that stays remarkably fresh and elegant. Fleshing out nicely on the finish, it’s a serious effort that will have 10-15 years of longevity. It’s well worth checking out.
